Hairy Arm Wines

Single site wines from Sunbury, Heathcote and the Yarra Valley. These blocks are sustainably farmed with a focus on soil health, cultivation and mulching. Grapes are hand tended through the most critical phases of the growing cycle. In Spring we carefully select the best shoots in order to perfect vine architecture and limit crop load. Later in the growing season we tend to every vine to perform a green harvest, removing any fruit that is lagging in order to eliminate potential green flavours in the wine.

Our approach to wine making is a balance of limited intervention using traditional methods and judicious “supervision” of each batch. Our objective is to tease out the very specific characters the varieties we work with inherit from the special vineyard sites they grow on. It is important that our wines are able to tell their own story.

The Hairy Arm Shiraz

Merri Shiraz

We have waited 14 vintages for the right combination of season, inspiration and opportunity in order to create a reserve wine! Merri is only made in exceptional vintages when we believe a parcel of fruit really stands out. Minimal additions and very gentle intervention give a wine of immense character that honestly conveys vintage it has travelled. Original artwork is from Hannah’s Faraway collection, inspired by wanderings along Merri Creek - for each bottle sold, a donation is made to Westgarth Primary School - only 1220 bottles produced.
